Internet Express Setup for Windows95B
NOTE 1: You may need to have your WINDOWS95B CD available.
NOTE 2: "user name" = "login name".
- click on the START Button
- Go to Programs --> Accessories --> Internet Tools
- Select and left mouse click "Get on the Internet"
The Internet Connection Wizard should now load up.
- click NEXT
- Select "MANUAL" then click NEXT
- click NEXT again
- Select "Connect using my phone line" then click NEXT
- Select "No, I don't want to use Windows Messaging" then click NEXT
- Enter "Internet Express" in the Name of Service Provider field then
click NEXT
- Enter the following information into fields available:
Area Code = Blank
Telephone number = 0198 331 201
Country Code = Australia(61)
NOTE: DO NOT tick "Bring up terminal window after dialing"
- click NEXT
- Enter your login name in the User Name field and leave your password field blank at this time.
You will be prompted to enter your password when you connect. Always use lower case with both login name and password.
- click NEXT
- Select "My Internet Service Provider automatically assigns me one"
- click NEXT
- Select "Server assigned name server addresses"
- click NEXT
- click FINISHED
Your system should ask you to insert your Windows95B CD to copy files then ask to reboot your system. Please do so.
You're now ready to configure the last of your Internet settings in your Browser, Mail & News Client
Configuring Internet Explorer
- From the Windows 95 Desktop click on "The Internet" icon
- When the dialup screen appears to enter your user name and password
click "CANCEL".
- Internet Explorer will continue load up and give you an error message (This is normal)
- click on the menu called view and then highlight and left mouse
click on "Options"
- click on the top menu called "Navigation"
- Make sure "Start Page" is showing in the Page field and Type in http://www.ix.net.au in the
address field
- click on "Start Page" and select Search page and Type http://www.metacrawler.com in
the address field
- click on APPLY
- click on OK.
This completes browser configuration.
Configuring Internet Mail.
- click on the Windows95 Start menu on the bottom left of the task bar
- Go to Programs then select and left click Internet Mail
- When Internet Mail wizard loads up please follow the instructions
- Throughout the wizard you will be prompted to enter your username (email address), mail address and mail servers.
Please remember: lower case.
Incoming Mail (POP3) = pop3.ix.net.au
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) = smtp.ix.net.au
Configuring Internet News.
- Follow the same instructions as in Internet Mail set-up. When it asks for the news server type in the following:
News Server = news.ix.net.au
This completes configuration. The system is ready to connect to Internet Express.
