Manual Setup Guide for Microsoft Outlook

Before you start: This guide will show you how to manually change the settings in Microsoft Outlook.
The screenshots in this guide are from Microsoft Outlook 2003, as most versions of Microsoft Outlook are very similar you shouldn't run into any problems if you're using a different version.

We recommend that you try using the automatic setup program provided with the following guides before you proceed. If you are removing your old mail accounts from Microsoft Outlook you may need to follow this guide.

You should only proceed if you want to add or remove your e-mail account manually.

Removing an old mail account from Microsoft Outlook:
You should proceed with this guide only if the following applies to you:
You have completed the
Automated Microsoft Outlook guide. (or are unable to complete it)
or
You require an old account removed.

Start by running Microsoft Outlook, usually located in the "Start Menu" under "Programs->Microsoft Office" or "All Programs->Microsoft Office".
If you still can't find it try clicking on the "Start" button, then click on the "Run..." button. Once that loads type "outlook.exe" without the quotation marks then click "OK".

Once Microsoft Outlook is open find and click the "Tools" button located up the top, then click on the "E-mail Accounts..." button. (image shown below)


A new window should open, ensure that the "View or change existing e-mail accounts" is selected, then click "Next".



This will now list all the mail accounts currently installed in Microsoft Outlook. (images shown below)


Now, to remove an account, click on the account you want to remove (i.e. mail.ix.net.au) so it gets highlighted, then click on the "Remove" button located at the top right of the screen under the "Add..." button.
Microsoft Outlook should then present you with a confirmation window, so if you're sure you want to remove the account, click on the "Yes" button. (image shown below)


Now you're done!




Adding a new mail account in Microsoft Outlook:
You should proceed with this guide only if the following applies to you:
You have completed the
Automated Microsoft Outlook guide. (or are unable to complete it)
or
You require an old account removed.

Start by running Microsoft Outlook, usually located in the "Start Menu" under "Programs->Microsoft Office" or "All Programs->Microsoft Office".
If you still can't find it try clicking on the "Start" button, then click on the "Run..." button. Once that loads type "outlook.exe" without the quotation marks then click "OK".

Once Microsoft Outlook is open find and click the "Tools" button located up the top, then click on the "E-mail Accounts..." button. (image shown below)


A new window should open, ensure that the "View or change existing e-mail accounts" is selected, then click "Next".



This will now list all the mail accounts currently installed in Microsoft Outlook. (images shown below)


If there are no accounts listed (unlike the image above), that's fine, as we're about to create one.
From the screen shown above, click on the "Add..." button. This will present you with a Wizard which will collect all the necessary information to create a new mail account.
Firstly, please ensure that "POP3" is selected, then click the "Next" button. (example shown below)


Now, enter all the information required, below is an example of what Mr. Franklin's account would look like. Please ensure that your "Server Information" is set the same as Mr. Franklin's.


Once you've completed this, click "Next" and your done!
